Water Assistance Program Expands Benefits

Arkansans who need help paying their current or past-due drinking water and wastewater bills may qualify for assistance through the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP). LIHWAP has expanded and now offers assistance to help eligible households with the financial burden of their water and wastewater bills. The program assists eligible households that:

  • need help paying their current drinking water and wastewater bills,
  • are disconnected from water services,
  • have a dated notice of disconnection, or
  • have past-due bills

Recipients who applied for LIHWAP before October 1, 2022, may be eligible for a second crisis benefit, up to $2000, to pay their past-due water bill.
